Hello,

Please someone help...I've been trying over and over to get my meta data per page, by adding the page link: index.php................................. . and for some reason, I never see the description, title or keywords I enter for that particular page...only the main SEF patch config comes up, none of the URL repository.

Joomla 1012. Sobi2. SEF joomla off.

Don't know what to do next. Please someone help? It's getting urgent since I launched my site a month ago...Thank you so much.

- Can you fetch the Title + keywords with the URL repository when you add an URL? Please use relative URL's;
- Are you using ARTIO url rewriting? Check if the mambots for the META data are switched off.

If not please contact me so I can take a look.

regards,

Richard

Hello Richard,

Thank you so much for your quick reply. And no, I use only your component. I use the relative URL, no clue what means ftech...sorry... I tested Artio on another site and I get 404 on all pages...I am slowly giving up with all these SEF...at least I don;t have that problem with yours .  Cheesy

I will send you an email asap. Thanks again.

Relative means relative to your website for example your website is www.example.com and the index file which needs a custom meta tag is located at www.example.com/some-example.html.

The custom meta tag can be created by going into the "Overview URL repository" option and click on the new button on the top right. In the new windows find the "(relative) URL:" field and type in it: "/some-example.html" and then press the Fetch url button on the top right.

note: leave the "" off the examples

Thank you so much for your help, althoffm but I solved my problem , with the mega help of Richard ... Smiley and also the fact that I copied the .htaccess example Artio offers when downloaded, which I did not do before and that's one of the reason why it did not work.

So, for the next one you will feel soooo frustated with these SEF, once Artio is downloaded, copy the .htaccess example they give in the instructions, open artio, open "View/edit SEF URLs" and start working (changing the name of links)

Then go to the GREAT Richard's component , SEF patch extended...($11 TOTALLY worth it! and what a support...) and copy and paste the new link you just created with Artio into sef patch , enter you metatags and all, and voila...

A trick from Richard though: I could not have what I call the best of both worlds: Artio was working great, Richard's was working great but for some reason, I was loosing the great additional tags from Sef patch extended when artio was on and Richard's is MUCH better for metatags and everything concerning tags than Artio BUT Richard's cannot change the links name...

Still following me... Shocked

Just make sure the Artio bot is UNpublished! That's where I had a problem for a while. And now I just can't stop opening my links and check my tags...a true beauty!

So - site config SEO = ON
      change your .htaccess file
      Artio bot = OFF
Copy and paste the new links created with artio into SEF patch and start writing your metatags and ADD 5 more if you need with SEF patch.

And hopefully Google will not kick you out because you have a bunch of duplicate with your Sobi2 component...Oh well...nobody's perfect, right? If anyone has the trick to check that., I am listening.

Hope my very little experience and the loss of a lot of hair on Richard's head due to my millions of desesperate emails, will help someone. This guy, for $11 the component, believe me, gives you more support that Adobe for $1800!!!

Cheers.
