I have installed the SEO Patch Extended version and having problems with the the front page title tag. The Space bars i use to seperate the title key words are showing when the Home Page title is being used from within Joomla.

Originally i found there were some issues around the Front Page title showing the appropriatte tag. It showed the home page title as the "Welcome to Homepage", So i set the home page title under the main menu Joomla admin with the title tag i wanted. (see below)

Home | Mortgage Arrears | Debt Consolidation | Tax Debt | Free Credit Report | Bad Credit Mortgage | Bad Credit Loans | Behind on Mortgage | Home Loan Arrears |

In the Config section of SEO Patch i set the Title as: (take note of the space bars- i use these for seo purposes to seperate title tags key words for user friendliness " | ")

[SEC_NAME] | [CAT_NAME] | [TITLE]

Default title if no title is available: [SITENAME]

What has occured is that the title tag space bars " | " used to seperate "[SEC_NAME] | [CAT_NAME] | [TITLE]" ends up at the front of the Home Page title. This has been a real issue. Google has Picked these up and you need to click on the " | " to take the prospect to the website which is not readily viewable to the prospect. And i believe before long ranking will dissapear.

How do i fix this bug.

All i need is the site name to be used as the title tag for the home page, and the component doesn't seem to be able to do this?

Anyone with ideas to fix this bug? The component seems to work other wise really well on all other content. Its only the home page.

See the home page is www.loansaver.com.au looks like below.
|| Home | Mortgage Arrears | Debt Consolidation | Tax Debt | Free Credit Report | Bad Credit Mortgage | Bad Credit Loans | Behind on Mortgage | Home Loan Arrears |

I've taken the space bars out as a temporary fix. But title tags are a bit of a mess without the spaces seperating the key words.

Any suggestions?

Hi Richard,

How did you go with this glitch.

Sorry to ask again, just its impacted google.

Give you an idea, do a search on google.com.au for bad credit loans and you'll see the serp result for loansaver.com.au . Not sure if the problem is still with the SEF patch or if its taking some time for google to rectify. What do you think? I might need to Uninstall the patch, wait for it to restore on google then retry when the bug is fixed. Let me know what you think.

I've a solution but I must build this in. I will make a separate field in the config for the separation character... Will keep you informed. Planning is this week.

Hi Richard,

I wound back the SEO patch files to original Joomla files, and within 4 hours my serp results went back to clickable titles.
Even though i amended the SEO Patch config to display title tags that seemed comliant with Google. It didn't amend the google serp title.
Just thought i'd mention it. As now i'm back to recieving enquiries again.
Let me know when the bugs fixed. Its definitley something i need to improve my site to achieve more targeted traffic.

Hi, Did you ever end up finding a resolution to this issue. I have uninstalled the addon, as i couldn't get it to work, in fact it amended the Title on the SERP's to an extent no-one could click through to the website. It is a very much needed addon.

Let me know how you went.

What do you mean with the SERPs? I will take a look into this because I assumed that this is in the current release...

On the results pages where the title and desprit[ption is located. The hyperlink (usually the page title) had reduced to a bar " | ". Which was what i sed to seperate page titles.
