Hi Richard,

I've been testing the patch over the past month and realise we have a serious problem running the patch.

The issue is that the extension keeps switching itself, or at least stopping generating the meta tags for the whole website.

I don't understand why, but it does. Take a look:

http://www.goodwebpractices.com/joomla/ski-resort-les-7-laux-using-joomla.html

Sometimes the page is full of the meta data, sometimes it is doesn't include any of it.

Is there a conflict here? In case there might be, here is a list of some of the other components installed:

- Community Builder
- Jom Comment
- Joomap
- sh404SEF
- JCE Editor
- IRC Maxwell Page Cache 2

I've tried to find a pattern for when the tags switch themselves off. I thought it was when any item was checked out, the SEF Patch would switch itself off, but actually I have noticed this isn't the case.

I do however know how to reactivate the SEF Patch when it switches itself off: all I do is open a content item and save it, and then the patch reactivates site-wide with all the meta data magically appearing.

The issue here is that this that patch switches off regularly (daily) and my site keeps getting indexed when the SEF patch isn't working! Obviously this is terrible for SEO and some of my articles which were performing well have dropped out the search engine rankings!!! Point being, if the patch fails, the SEO on the site is badly knocked. Diminishing the effectiveness of the patch!

Richard, have you come across this issue before? Have you any suggestions? I am willing to give you access to the backend if you need to have a look around.

Look forward to hearing from you soon I hope.

Hi David,

No, I've never experienced this before. Sometimes on the frontpage but this had to do with the frontpage cache.

I don't think that the issue is within the SEF patch self. (are you talking about the free patch?). Issue could be the caching system or sh404 which also have the ability to add / include META data to an article.

Looking at your description I think that the problems lies within the caching. Have you for example tried to disable the cache (Maxwell)?

Regards,

Richard
