Everything went fine with normal Joomla (1.5.6) Install. Root directory, Administrator directory, index.php, and administrator/index2.php were all set to writeable before install.
It looks like /index.php was modified (thugh I'm not positive), but administrator/index2.php was not. Cache directory is writeable, and debug is on, but nothing is seems to be happening - cache repository is empty, and no debug file is being created in cache directory. All directory paths in component settings are correct.

Thanks for the incredibly speedy reply! I think I have it working now though! I uninstalled, set permissions on all applicable folders to "777" , and now the cache seems to be writing.
Thanks!
BTW is it ok to reset the files/folders back to their original permission settings (obviously Cache folder has to remain writeable), but what about the root folder, admin folder, index.php file, etc?
