Issues and Questions related to updating and XAMPP

I have just reinstalled php development studio after rebuilding my computer (long story, don't ask...) and I'm noticing a problem when it goes to update Eclipse - I get a message saying, for example:

Cannot find a solution where both "org.eclipse.wst.server_adapters.feature.feature.jar [3.1.0.v200906020451-51DFAkF77g7GCNc]" and "org.eclipse.wst.server_adapters.feature.feature.jar [3.0.1.v20080730-4-CF_kE77c7SCI58GJ]" are satisfied.
Cannot find a solution where both "org.eclipse.wst.xsd.ui [1.2.203.v200904300717]" and "org.eclipse.wst.xsd.ui [1.2.105.v200811282340]" are satisfied.

I'm not sure what's going wrong.

Also, and it may be related, I notice that PHP Development Studio 4.0 is based on Eclipse Version: 3.4.2 (Ganymede), and I know that version 3.5 is out. (Where this may be related is if it's trying to update from the 3.5 repositories). How do I - if I can - go about updating Eclipse to the 3.5 version?

Also, how can I update the XAMPP installation to the current versions?

Last but not least, what do I need to change to be able to run XAMPP standalone, without starting them thru the Eclipse interface? When I try, I get errors.
