Hello,
I'm quite interested in your commercial extensions (Joomla booster + SEF patch) for a couple of Joomla 1.0.11 sites.
My question, as we are a EU company with a VAT registration number, can you invoice VAT free ?
Cheers

Have discussed this with my partner. Prices should be excluded with tax.  This has incorrectly entered within the shop module and will be corrected asap.

Thx for your response.

I have just tried to order - I see that you have changed the displayed prices
however, in the buying process, there is no way to input a EU VAT registration number and require not to pay the Tax ??
so at the end on the Paypal payment, I am still with the same amount to pay...

Ok, 1/2 of the day I was on the phone with the Tax department within the Netherlands (that is were we live ;-) ) and I understand how we must change the paypal process:

Explanation is as follows:

For virtual goods like software (that is what we sell over here) the payment of the taxes is be shifted to the country of the buyer. In other words the buyer should pay the taxes to their government.
Within the European union civilians with no company should pay taxes for the goods they buy on the internet. Or in other words if they don't have a VAT ID they must pay tax.
We should provide our Tax department an overview of these VAT ID's from other countries to "prove" that the taxes will be payed in the country within the EU union. Therefor we must provide a field with VAT ID (or Tax id) which contains the European VAT ID  of the customer. This should also be printed on the invoice.

Customers within the Netherlands must always pay taxes regardless if they have an VAT ID provided.

Currently Virtuemart (shop software we are using) is not able to provide the above functional requirements, so I will build this in and it will be available within a few days. So within a few days we will be able to do this as describe d above.

Regards,

Richard

Yes, you are fully right - we are in Luxemburg and we E-sell goods widely and have the same problems  Huh
the VAT stuff is quite complex to manage - we use OsCommerce and it runs quite Ok with the VAT process.
By the way, I was thinking that Virtuemart would be better in dealing with taxes...
anyway, good luck for implementing the VAT
in any case, I will order your products without waiting.

I've almost altered the Virtuemart to handle these kind of transaction. If you like I will post the construction over here... Please let me know

Only problem that I see is the validation of the TAX / VAT - id. There is a WSDL description of how you can do this but then I'am afraid that we will depended of this services which is not always available (what I understand of it)....
http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/api/checkVatPort?wsdl

Solution for Virtuamart:
- Check the country of the buyer
- if the buyer is within the EU but not within your country he can pay tax free, but the tax payment is shifted to the buyer (this should be printed on the invoice). For paying tax free he must fill in his tax-id.
- If the buyer is within your country he should be the taxes.

Other countries can buy tax free.

Richard

I am trying to buy your Joomla Cache accelerate component right now from the US for a site based in Mexico.  From your comments here I understand that I can buy it tax free, but I can't find a way to do it.  Can you please tell me how?

If you fill in your country you will see that no tax is calculated on the check out (only for european countries if they don't have a tax id).

Hi,

I need to add VAT/TAX field to our checkout form how it is added in this link over here http://www.joomlatwork.com/component/page,checkout.index/option,com_virtuemart/Itemid,1/
it should validate and calculate VAT based on following rules

Calculation of VAT according to EU rules with integrated online validation of VAT number

1   VAT is charged on all sales to customers in Denmark

2   VAT is charged on all sales to customers within the EU that are not registered for VAT

3   Otherwise VAT is not charged, i.e., sales to VAT-registered EU customers outside Denmark and exports outside the EU

Do you have any components to do so or I am ready to buy!

Please notify me soon i am urgent need thank you!

No validation of the VAT validation is present. Only the check if the country is an EU country and then if the customer has filled in the VAT ID. There is a webservices (SOAP) for validation but we had no time to implement this yet...

The check is done by the European VAT vallidation web services: http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/vieshome.do?selectedLanguage=EN when you enter a VAT ID code. It could be that you input is wrong.

Can you email me the VAT id so we can check it?

Regards,

Richard
