Robots tag (and the robots.txt file) are for allowing the search engine to index your files. Sometime you don't want a search engine to index some particular page (= noindex) but just follow the links on the  page (follow). Sometimes you just that the search engine just index the page (= index) but doesn't follow any links on the page (= nofollow).

Simple, where is the primer?

Yes,

The default is only for the items that doesn't have the tag set yet. This is the case when you install the component and you have not yet edit any content or other items.

Hi!
I also have a problem with the default robots setting.

I don't want it to show up at all, so I set the default to Don't display robot tag if not set.
However, the robot tag shows up on every page! This is a fresh install, so there are no settings in the content items.
Another problem is, that it also shows up on component pages, where I can't even edit the settings manually.

How can I fix that?

And by the way, in my opinion, in the content items editor, section "Robots setting:" there should be an option "Use default".

Best regards

Wow, that was quick!  Wink
Does that mean that if I download the component again I get the fixed version?

Maybe you could post here how to fix that bug so I can do it manually and not have to deinstall the old version and install the new one again ... if it's just a small fix.

That would be great!

Thanks a lot!

I've sent you the component by email. If not received you can download it again. You can patch it if you extract the zip file and replace the config.class.php file in the root of the component directory (/administrator/components/com_sefpatch)
