Just bought this component and it installed without a hitch.

Question / problem: the custom title tags aren't working on my site. I add the custom title tag to a content item, but it doesn't show up at all - I'm only getting [Title] - [Sitename] no matter what the custom title tag is - empty or whatever.

Help with this appreciated.

thanks,
adam

The custom tags are META tags within the source code as <meta name="the name you assigned" content="Your content">. The custom tags are not add to the title tag / within the HTML title.
Within the Joomla document the title that is shown is the title that you assign to a document.  The title are add as the <title></title> tag and you can assign it also as the META tag title.

Do I understand you correctly if you want to assign the custom fields to be added to the title field? Can you explain why you want to do this?

Can you give me an URL of a document and a description of the content you assigned into the custom tags?

Regards,

Richard

Hmm... ok, here we go with the explanation... Please see this page:

http://www.led-digest.com/content/view/71/54/

You will see the Title tag displays in the source as:

"Re: Site Loading Times - LED Digest | The Email Discussion List for Ecommerce"

BUT look at this screenshot of the parameters of this content item (in the back-end administration)! The custom title tag says this:

"Dial-up Users and Site Load Times"

And yet this isn't showing up!

Help?

Hmmm.... I don't know this parameter Undecided  I don (http://) this is not an standard Joomla paramater (look at the image). The title that you can set are the "content items as it is standard.

Did you apply the custom title tag as describe in this topic http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,36681.0.html.

In that case the Patch doesn't support this parameter. But the return to my question: what is the purpose of this tag since you have to content item title tag available?

Regards.

Richard

Okay, yes - I did apply this patch. So that's the confusion-- Sorry about that, my fault.

As for the question why I would use this feature -- I want to have different title tags from the content titles. For instance, threaded topics that I'm archiving may all have the same content titles:

Screen Display Sizing
Re: Screen Display Sizing
Re: Screen Display Sizing
.... etc ....

.... and yet they can have different - unique - TITLE tags for the search engines.

Thanks for your help,
adam

I would also like to see this feature implmented.  Richard, do you have an exact date when you plan on releaseing the new version with the custom title mod?  I need to have one of my sites up in a few days, so Im just wondering if I should go ahead and use the custom title mod from the Joomla forums or wait for your release.

Thank you!

There is not yet an exact date, sorry for that, and it will not be done for the coming weeks due to the holidays  Undecided

So for the coming time, go for the custom title mod and keep checking the forum. Don't hesitate to ask again if you get impatient!  Cheesy

Greetz,

John

Another vote for wanting this feature added as soon as possible.  This is actually why I bought your product.  I don't want to have to have the header of my static content page be the same as the page title tag.  I want to be able to set that page title tag to whatever I want for SEO purposes.  Your software has cleaned up some other Joomla SEO problems (thank you) but this was the main thing I was looking for.

Have I missed something - have you already added this feature?  If not I guess I'll implement that hack you referenced on the main Joomla site?

Thx,
Mark

Just wondering if any progress has been made on the custom title patch?
